QUICKSHIFT CD RELEASE PARTY A SUCCESS! - August 17, 2007
Approximately 250 people attended the QuickShift CD Launch at the LongBranch in Saskatoon on Friday Aug. 17th. The crowd was ready to rock but just minutes before hitting the stage a city-wide storm caused a power outage at the Branch. Taking it in stride, the QuickShift crew mingled with fans, while the LongBranch staff quickly got things back up and running.
A "revving muscle car engine" vibrates through the building - a QuickShift signature sound which grabs the crowds attention - as Traci Lowe (CJVR) welcomes everyone to the event and introduces the band. As the last note of the engine dies, QuickShift hits the stage with their recent release "Devil Won't Go."
Setting the tone for the remainder of the set QuickShift kept the energy level high, the dance floor packed and the crowd cheering. Not so typical was their decision to weave their original material in with cover tunes in both sets. Unusual perhaps but who can argue with a choice that kept fans rocking all night long. After all in their words, its all about "country rock fans...finding 'em, getting'em and keeping 'em!"
Country Music News - Record Review (Larry Delaney) - August 16, 2007
QuickShift is a Saskatchewan-based foursome, featuring the lead vocals of Leanne Lozinsky. This debut album contains ALL original material written by group members (past and present), and writer's connected with the band; thereby ensuring a noticeably fresh sound.
Two singles have already been pulled from the package; the lead-off release, I'm Right Here, and the current follow-up, Devil Won't Go, which is generating some solid national airplay.
Potential hit offerings come in the country rockers..I Ain't Listening; the fiery That's How She Is, and a couple of mid-tempo items in Guitar Girl and Runaway Girl.
The album was produced by Bart McKay at his studios in Saskatoon; and features in-house music by members of QuickShift, supported by some gifted guest session pickers.
